This living room corner took me three years
I researched, then I put it together myself. The boxes hide the router, the vases stay empty, and I would buy it all again.

I stood in the living room this morning and looked at the corner the way I used to look at a room I was still planning. I was not planning. I was just looking. Three years in, the shelf still looks like I meant it, which is a sentence I do not get to write about most of my decorating experiments.
I researched a lot of inspiration. Then I put this one together myself. I did not hire anyone. I did not copy a photo I saved and then feel guilty when mine looked different. I wanted a corner that felt quiet and a little elegant, and I wanted it to hide the ugly parts of a real house. I hate seeing cords. I hate seeing the router sitting there like homework. The three boxes are minimal and stylish, and they hide it. That is not a small thing. That is the whole mood of the room, if I am honest.
Would I skip the plant on top? Yes. I would get something different up there. The rest I would buy again, and I already know that because I have been living with it.
The vases stay empty on purpose
The white and gold circle vases stay empty. I style them in front of one another, or next to one another, depending on the week, and I leave them alone. They are simple, and they are elegant, and the gold inner lining is the part that makes me stop. I do not need a stem in them. I do not need them to earn their place by holding something. They already did the work by being shaped like that.

There is a little gold light above those vases. It sticks. It has stuck. I can soften it or brighten it, and I do both, depending on whether I want the corner to glow or just be there. I like a living room that does not have to turn on the ceiling to feel finished after dinner. A stick-on light used to sound like a compromise. This one just looks like it belongs up there, which is the only test I have for a thing I am not going to drill for.

The tall white ribbed vase lives in the same corner. I like the matte of it next to the glossy gold lining of the others. I would still skip the plant I put on top. A plant on top of a shelf sounds charming until you are the person watering it over the books. I would get something different up there. I would not get rid of the vase.

The books I actually read
I bought Minimalista and Made for Living because I wanted to read them. I did. They gave me language for the kind of rooms I like, the ones that look collected instead of decorated in a weekend. Then they sat on the shelf and I loved how they looked all together, which is a nicer ending than most of my self-improvement projects get.
The linen decorative book is in that same stack. I wanted the stack to look finished, not like I had only two hardcovers and a lot of hope. Together they look like a little library that belongs to this room. Apart, they would still be fine. Together is the part I keep looking at.

The marble and brass bookends are the part I keep wanting to pick up. They are super heavy. They are elegant. They make the whole stack look like it belongs to a person who has opinions about marble, which, it turns out, I do. A light bookend is a suggestion. These are a decision. The books stay where I put them, and the gold line through the marble matches the vases without making the corner look like a matching set I bought in one cart.
I hate seeing cords. If a box can hide a router and still look stylish, I am keeping it.
Candles that look real and do not run
The white ribbed candles look real because they are real wax. There is no wick, so there is no runny mess, and I do not have to babysit them while someone walks through the room with a backpack. I wanted that exact combination and I got it, which is rarer than the photos want you to think. They sit in the same corner and they do not ask me for a lighter or a plan.

Three years is long enough for me to know what I would change. I would skip the plant on top. I would keep the boxes that hide the router. I would keep the empty vases, the light that sticks, the heavy bookends, the books I actually read, and the candles that do not drip on my shelf. I came up with this corner myself, after a lot of looking, and I still like walking into it. That is the whole review.
Would I buy it again? I absolutely would. I have had three years to get bored, and I have not.
